Bobby Wagner has agreed to a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced on Saturday. The free-agent linebacker is expected to earn $7 million in what will be his second stint in Seattle.

Wagner returns to the Seahawks after spending last season with the Los Angeles Rams. The linebacker spent each of his previous ten seasons with the Seahawks, who drafted him in the second round out of Utah State in 2012.

Considered by many to be the greatest defensive player in franchise history, Wagner is the franchise’s all-time leading tackler. He also won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks before losing in Super Bowl XLIX the following season.

Wagner’s return to Seattle came after he was released from his contract with the Rams on March 15. This came a year after he signed a $50 million contract with Los Angeles that included $20 million in guarantees.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner and the Los Angeles Rams have mutually agreed to part ways after one season. Wagner signed a five-year, $50 million deal with $20 million in guarantees in March 2022.

Following Wagner’s release, the Rams are set to free up $5 million in salary cap space; a crucial move since the team remains $13.7 million over the salary cap leading up to the new season. The team does, however, incur a $7.5 million dead money charge as a result of Wagner’s release.

Although the team could save $8 million by designating Wagner as a post-June 1 release, the savings won’t be credited to their cap until the summer.

Wagner joined the Rams after spending 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. Last season, Wagner posted 140 tackles, a career-high 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 5 passes defended in 17 games, earning himself second-team All-Pro honors in the process. This is the ninth time in his 11 NFL season that the linebacker was named an All-Pro. Impressively, Wagner has posted over 100 tackles in each of his seasons.

The Rams narrowly missed out on the opportunity to sign Wagner in 2012 when he entered the NFL Draft. While the Rams intended to draft him, they shifted him down to five spots, with the Seahawks swooping in to take him.

Despite the NFL agency being underway for a while, All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner remains unsigned. However, recent reports indicate this might not be the case for too long.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Wagner visited the Baltimore Ravens on Friday to discuss a potential deal with the franchise. While he left without an offer, the Ravens are reportedly highly interested in adding him to their roster.

Other teams are monitoring the situation as well, including the Los Angeles Rams, who already hosted Wagner earlier in the week. The Rams are interested in Wagner but only for “the right price.”

The goal for the Ravens this offseason was to get a playmaking linebacker. They believed they managed to get one after agreeing to a deal with Za’Darius Smith, but the Pro Bowler bailed out on Baltimore to sign with the Minnesota Vikings. However, if they manage to get Wagner missing out on Smith shouldn’t sting too much.

Bobby Wagner spent his first 10 seasons in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks. During that time, he established himself as arguably the greatest player in franchise history. Wagner helped the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl in 2013 while earning numerous individual accolades throughout the years. This includes six First-Team All-Pro nods and eight Pro Bowl selections.

The Seahawks released Wagner in March as a cap casualty. He left the franchise having made 1,383 tackles to go with 23.5 sacks, 60 pass deflections, 11 interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.

As Seattle Seahawks said goodbye to most of the prominent figures from Legion of Boom era in the past couple of seasons, Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner established himself as the team’s unquestionable leader on the defense. That should also be the case in the years to come, as Seahawks decided to give Wagner a three-year contract extension over the weekend.

Seahawks confirmed the deal on social media but declined to reveal the details of the agreement. However, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the extension is worth $54 million with $40.2 million of that being guaranteed.

“We feel blessed that we were able to draft Bobby in 2012, keep him here on a second contract, and now to have him sign a third contract is a huge deal for us,” – team’s executive vice president/general manager John Schneider told reporters.

“He has been the centerpiece of all of it on defense for years,” – added Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll Carroll.

With this new contract, that pays him $18 million annually, Wagner became the highest-paid inside linebacker in the league surpassing New York Jets’ C.J. Mosley, who earns $17 million per year.

“I’m really excited to have this done, excited that I get to be a Seahawk for a long, long time,” – said Wagner in a statement released by the team. “Like I’ve always said, I want to play my entire career here, and feel like today is a step toward that.”

Since being drafted 47th overall back in 2012, Bobby Wagner made five Pro Bowl appearances and earned four First-team All-Pro honors while winning one Super Bowl ring. Wagner’s career stats include 916 tackles, 16.5 sacks, 41 pass deflections, nine interceptions, and three defensive touchdowns.

This may be the sweetest story of the year, in more ways than one. Me & The Bees Lemonade was founded by 12-year-old Makaila Ulmer. What’s happened since is the stuff beyond the dreams of your average preteen.

The Founding Of A Lemonade Behemoth

Austin360

Mikaila was just four years old when she was stung twice by a bee. The precocious youngster was naturally baffled by being stung and resolved to learn all that she could about bees.

What she learned left her with a brand new set of priorities for her life. She found that bees are an essential part of the ecosystem and that, without bees, there would be no life on earth. She also discovered that bees are not having the happiest time in the modern world and that some species are even under the threat of extinction.

While many children might not have been able to envision such a future, Mikaila could see it clearly and she was determined to save the bees. She chose her great-grandmother’s lemonade recipe, which uses with flax seed and honey, to raise funds for her cause.

The Minor Leagues

Rare

Mikaila appeared on Shark Tank in 2015. At the age of just 10, she not only managed to get through the show’s demanding entry and pitching process, but she succeeded in raising $60,000 of investment.

That led to an invitation to meet President Barack Obama in the White House to discuss her success. She was then named one of the Movement 50 Top 10 Innovators of the Year at SXSW.

Using her own initiative, she also landed a deal to distribute her lemonade at Whole Foods stores across the country—a task that has defeated more than one grown-up supplier over the years.

To build on her success, though, she needed more money to keep the company moving in the right direction.

The NFL Lines Up To Build Her Business

Arian Foster says: “Of course, any time you invest in anything, you look at if it’s going to be profitable. We look for companies that match our main focus of developing a good product but are also good people and do it for the right reasons. It’s more than about money to us. We believe that investing in small black businesses is extremely important.”

Which is why he and other NFL players (Texan, Glover Quin, Duane Brown, Jonathan Grimes, Omar Bolden, Bobby Wagner, Darius Slay, Sherrick McManis, EJ Manuel, Malik Jackson, Nick Martin and Lameck Lukanga) have just pumped $810,000 into Mikaila’s business.

Mikaila learned of this at the “Been Brilliant Entrepreneur Day” at her local Boys & Girls Club. As you might expect, she’s pretty pleased with the results.

“I’m very happy that I’m able to work with them and they invested in my company—and them helping us and mentoring us and believing in our mission, I think we have a better chance of achieving our goals. That keeps me pumped and excited every day.”

12 years old with over a million dollars raised in investments? Mikaila has a very bright future in front of her indeed!
