Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins didn’t last long with New England Patriots. The team decided to release Seferian-Jenkins on Tuesday, despite the 26-year-old being on Pats’ roster for less than two months.

Although New England didn’t reveal the details of the release, NFL Insider Ian Rapaport reports that Seferian-Jenkins is taking a month off from football in order to deal with “personal issues.” According to Boston Globe’s Nora Princiotti, the player is hoping to get back to NFL in July with the reunion with the Pats being a realistic possibility.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins signed with the New England Patriots on April 10^th, inking a one-year, $790,000 deal. None of that, however, was guaranteed except the $50,000 signing bonus.

Seferian-Jenkins spent the 2018 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, being limited to only five games due to injury. He finished the year with 11 receptions for 90 yards and one touchdown.

Besides Jaguars, Seferian-Jenkins also played with Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets. His NFL career stats include 116 catches for 1,160 yards and 11 TDs.
