Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Artie Burns is ready to move on. Burns, who was Steelers’ first-round pick in 2016, recently told PennLive’s Jacob Klinger that he is looking to play for “another team” next season.

“I gotta get to another team and do what I got to do,” Burns told Klinger. “For sure-for sure.”

Burns rarely played this season, often not being on the roster for game day. Even when he played, the 24-year-old was on special teams. The Steelers previously declined the fifth-year on his contract, showing which gives a sense that they are ready to move on as well.

“I’m pretty much out the door for a little while now, right,” Burns added. “Exactly, so, what else more is there to say.”

Artie Burns was drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers with the 24th overall pick four years ago. The organization had big expectations for him, and he delivered in his rookie season. Burns finished 2016 with 65 tackles, 13 pass deflections, and three interceptions while starting nine games.

However, after the promising first year in the league, Burns’ performances declined in the following two seasons. He lost his starting place in 2018 and never recovered.

Burns will leave Pittsburgh having recorded 149 tackles, four interceptions, 27 passes defended, and a forced fumble in 58 games played.
