Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is set to undergo an MRI scan along with other tests on Tuesday after incurring a knee injury.

Murray picked up the noncontact knee injury less than 90 seconds into the Cardinals’ 27-13 loss to the New England Patriots on Monday night. The player collapsed after a three-yard run during the third play of the game. The player had not come into any other players leading up to his collapse.

“Anytime you see a noncontact injury, you know it’s worse right away,” teammate DeAndre Hopkins commented.” That hurt. Kyler put a lot into this. He’s been preparing his butt off to get back after the hamstring, so for that to happen, I hate that for him. I know he’ll recover and get back to himself.”

Following his collapse, Murray was given on-field treatment by the Cardinals’ athletic trainers and doctors. Upon closer inspection, they decided to cart him off the field immediately, transporting him to the team locker room.

Backup quarterback Colt McCoy played in Murray’s absence, throwing for 246 yards on 27-of-40 passing with an interception.

Arizona Cardinals hold the No.1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and many people want them to pick Oklahoma’s quarterback Kyler Murray with that selection. But even if that is true, Cardinals don’t want to reveal their cards too soon.

Cardinals’ general manager Steve Keim recently spoke with reporters and said that the organization is still undecided on their selection when draft officially kicks off on Thursday, April 25.

“The fact that I don’t know what we’re doing, but everyone else does, that’s concerning,” – said Keim on Tuesday. “We are not done with this process. We have not made a decision on the No. 1 overall pick.”

Ever since Arizona Cardinals hired Kliff Kingsbury as their new head coach, the majority of NFL analysts had them selecting Murray with the first overall pick. The 21-year-old is seen as a perfect fit for Kingsbury’s offense, who praised the Heisman Trophy winner on several occasions during his time at Texas Tech. Arizona also started taking phone calls about a potential trade for QB Josh Rosen, whom they selected 10th overall in 2018 after moving up in the draft.

On the other hand, both Keim and Kingsbury have been full of praises for Rosen in recent weeks and didn’t give any indication that they are willing to move on from him.

“He’s been phenomenal,” – said Kingsbury. “He couldn’t have been better honestly. First one to show up. Engaging. Into it. Very sharp, as everybody knows. Can’t say enough good things about my interactions with him so far.”

“We’ve had good communication. He is a pro’s pro.” – added Keim. “And the one thing I’ve appreciated the most since we’ve drafted him. The kid has an unbelievable amount of mental toughness. You saw that last year as he took a beating and we went through the injuries that we went through up front. Physical toughness, mental toughness — Josh Rosen has it all.”

It seems like Cardinals aren’t willing to reveal their plans until the draft, so anything is possible. We will just have to wait and see.

Arizona Cardinals are set to acquire cornerback Jamar Taylor from Cleveland Browns. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Cardinals will send their 2020 sixth-round pick to Browns in exchange.

Jamar Taylor started 15 games for the Browns in the 2017 season in which he had 48 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

Arizona Cardinals were looking for a cornerback to pair with their All-Pro star Patrick Peterson for some time now while the Browns were motivated to move Taylor ever since they drafted Ohio State’s cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Cardinals previously drafted CB Chris Campbell in the sixth round of the draft to address their cornerback issues while also pursuing free-agent Baushad Breeland, who is most likely to sign with the Colts.

Jamar Taylor was drafted into the league in 2013 NFL draft when Miami Dolphins selected him with the 54th overall pick. He didn’t manage to live up to his potential during the three seasons with the team, so Dolphins traded him to the Browns in 2016.

During the five years he spent in the NFL, Taylor played in 64 games and managed 201 total tackles, 27 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions alongside one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Although Arizona Cardinals lost their head coach and quarterback at the end of 2017 NFL seasons, it looks like they will at least keep their wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald. New Cardinals coach Steve Wilks recently spoke with The Doug & Wolf Show on 98.7 FM in Arizona and revealed that Fitzgerald will be with the team in 2018 as well.

Larry mentioned to me last night that he’s coming back for the 2018 season. … He’s totally committed, those are his words. We’re ecstatic to have him part of the Arizona Cardinals,” – said Wilks.

This is great news for Cardinals fans who were afraid that Larry Fitzgerald could follow the path of Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians, who decided to retire after the season wrapped up. The 34-year-old Fitzgerald hinted that he could be back in 2018 during his appearance at the NFL Network’s Super Bowl pregame show.

I’m excited about what the future holds,” – said Fitzgerald when asked about the opportunity to play for Wilks. “Obviously there are some things that need to happen in terms of personnel, draft and things like that to help our team improve, but I’m confident that [general manager] Steve Keim and his group are going to do a good job with that.

Larry Fitzgerald entered the NFL in 2004 when the Arizona Cardinals drafted him with the third overall pick in that year’s draft. Since then he was selected 11 times for Pro-Bowl, has one First-team All-Pro (2008)and two Second-team All-Pro selections. During his NFL career, Fitzgerald was also NFL receptions leader on two occasions and also led the league in receiving touchdowns two years. As of 2017, Fitzgerald is ranked third all-time in receptions and receiving yards, while leading all active players in both categories. He is also ranked eighth in receiving touchdowns.

Arizona Cardinals found themselves in a tough spot after both head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer decided to retire at the end of 2017 NFL season. Now, the team has taken care one of those problems by naming Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks as their next head coach. The Cardinals announced that Wilks received a four-year deal, with a team option for the fifth year.

After his hiring was made official, Wilks said that he intends to continue the team’s winning culture.

This is not really a rebuild, this is a retool,” – Wilks told azcardinals.com. “We have the culture of winning here. We just have to be able to sustain it. It’s all about trying to get to the next level and the consistency you need to get to the next level. I believe building a culture based on three things: Trust, commitment, and accountability.

With Steve Wilks out of the door, the Carolina Panthers have now lost their defensive coordinator second time in two years. In 2016 offseason, Sean McDermott, whose job Wilks took, was named Buffalo Bills head coach and led them to a playoff appearance in his first season. The Panthers will also lose linebackers coach Al Holcomb, who will follow Wilks to the Cardinals and assume the role of defensive coordinator. The Panthers, on the other hand, will have defensive line coach Eric Washington replace Wilks as DC.

Steve Wilks, who works in NFL since 2006, has spent the last six years as a part of Panthers’ organization. He first served as defensive backs coach, before taking the role of assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Wilks orchestrated the Panthers defense that finished third in sacks (50) and third in run defense (88.1 yards per game). The Panthers were the only team in 2017 NFL season that didn’t allow a single 100-yards rushing game and also had a second-highest blitz rate in the NFL.

Short after losing their head coach Bruce Arians, the Arizona Cardinals will have to look for a new quarterback as well. Just like Arians, Carson Palmer announced that he is retiring from NFL. He revealed the decision via a letter posted on Cardinals’ social media and official website.

Over the years, I’ve had teammates who decided to hang it up and I would ask them how they knew when it was time to walk away,” – wrote the 38-year-old. “The answer was almost always the same: You just know. For me, that time is now. Why? Quite simply, I just know.”

This means that Palmer’s NFL career actually ended in Week 7 when he broke his arm in a match against the Los Angeles Rams and was ruled out for the rest of the season. Although the player said back in December that he feels good about returning to the field, it looks like he had a change of hearts.

Carson Palmer played college football at USC for five years, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2002. Cincinnati Bengals took him with the first overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft but didn’t allow him to take a single snap in his rookie season. He was named the team’s starting quarterback in 2004 and led the Bengals to their first winning season in 15 years in 2005. Palmer reached the playoffs with Bengals in 2009 once again, before asking for a trade. He then spent time with Raiders before signing with Cardinals and reviving his career. He compiled a 92-88-1 record with these three teams, finishing his NFL career with 46,247 yards, 294 touchdowns, and 187 interceptions.

Prior to Palmer announcing his retirement, Cardinals’ head coach Bruce Arians revealed he is also walking away from the NFL after 42 years of coaching and 5 years at the helm of the team. Arians explained his decision by saying that he wants to spend more time with his family.
