In the last few days, it appeared like Buffalo Bills will be the next destination for Pittsburgh Steelers’ star wide receiver Antonio Brown. The two teams reportedly had “positive talks” were closing in on a deal. Except that Brown wasn’t exactly too thrilled about it.

Bills’ general manager Brandon Beane told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday that his team is dropping out of Brown trade talks. Reportedly, Brown wasn’t fond of moving to Buffalo and “would not commit” to the team.

Buffalo decided to make a push the 30-year-old Pro Bowler early in the week, as they badly need a playmaker and have the necessary cap space to give Brown an improved contract. After this snub, however, they will focus on improving their roster via free agency.

“We inquired about Antonio Brown on Tuesday, and kept talks open with the Steelers,” – said Beane. “We had positive discussions, but ultimately it didn’t make sense for either side. As great a player as Antonio Brown is, we have moved on and our focus is on free agency.”

It was recently reported that Steelers noted other NFL teams that they expect to trade Antonio Brown until Friday. It appeared that Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans had the most interest in landing, but several other teams also enquired about the cost of landing the player. Pittsburgh reportedly had set the initial price on first round pick and other assets, but would now accept just a first rounder.

It looks like Antonio Brown’s exit from Pittsburgh Steelers is a done deal. The 30-year-old Pro Bowler met with Steelers’ president Art Rooney II on Tuesday, and later tweeted that the two agreed “it is time to move on.”

“Had a great meeting with Mr.Rooney today we discussed a lot of things and we cleared the air on several issues!” – wrote Brown on his official Twitter profile. “We both agreed that it is time to move on but I’ll always have appreciation and gratitude towards the Rooney family and @steelers organization!”

Towards the end of 2018 NFL season, Antonio Brown clashed with several of his teammates and members of the Steelers’ organization which led to him missing practices and team meetings. Coach Mike Tomlin decided to sit out Brown in Week 17 game after this, which only made things worse. Ultimately, the two sides decided it was best in both of their interests that they go separate way in 2019.

Pittsburgh is currently working on a trade for Brown, who has three more years on his five-year, $72.7 million extension he signed in 2017. They are reportedly asking for a first-round draft pick in return for their star wide receiver, but it remains to be seen whether other teams are willing to go this far.

According to Antonio Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, Steelers are working alone on the trade and won’t allow him or his client to take part in the talks.

“They have the ability to talk to other teams right now and find the best deal for them,” – Rosenhaus told ESPN. “We hope they get a great amount of compensation. We want everybody to win here. it would be great for the Steelers to get what they deem fair compensation for Antonio, and for Antonio to find a new team at this point. And we reap all the positives from that. So that is where it is.”
