LAFC has secured a significant roster addition ahead of the 2020 MLS season resume. According to several reports, the club signed Honduran international back/winger Andy Najar.

The news was confirmed by Najar himself in a recent interview with Honduran outlet Diario Diez. According to the 27-year-old winger, he already inked a deal with LAFC and is now just waiting for a confirmation of his former club Anderlecht.

“I already signed the contract, but we are waiting for the last letter from Anderlecht that shows I am free at the end of this month,” said Najar.

Najar spent the early 2020 training with LAFC in order to regain his fitness, but the club’s general manager John Thorrington denied interest in the player at the time.

Andy Najar is well familiar with the MLS, considering he spent both his youth and early pro career with D.C. United. During his time in the capital, Najar won the MLS Rookie of the Year award and played 87 games with 10 goals.

In 2013, Najar joined Anderlecht in a transfer worth close to $4 million. After an encouraging start in Belgium, he fell out of favor at the club in recent seasons and has played only 44 games since 2016.

Najar has been a part of the Honduran international team since 2011 and has played 36 games with the national side, scoring four goals in the process.
