Cincinnati Bengals own the No.1 overall pick in this year’s draft, and they will almost certainly use it on a quarterback. This means that their longtime starter Andy Dalton will have to leave Cincinnati in order to get a crack at a starting job in 2020.

Dalton’s exit is reportedly getting near, as the 32-year-old signal-caller and Bengals are working together to find his next landing spot. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bengals intend to trade Dalton, but they will take into account the player’s wishes.

Rapoport adds that Cincinnati doesn’t want to simply get rid of Dalton and that they will do their best to put him into a good situation.

Andy Dalton’s successor at Bengals will probably be LSU’s QB Joe Burrow, who is coming off one of the best individual seasons in recent college football history. Burrow not only won a Heishman Trophy but also led the Tigers to a national championship. He is almost unanimously projected as the first overall pick in 2020.

Dalton landed in Cincinnati in 2011 as a second-round pick and was given the starting job in his rookie season. Since then, he earned three Pro Bowl selections while leading the Bengals to four postseason appearances in which he failed to record a single win.

Dalton’s career stats include 62.0 completion percentage, 31,594 passing yards and 86 passing touchdowns.
