It seems like the Tampa Bay Lightning have their goalie situation sorted out for the next decade. Lightning announced on Monday that they had signed goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy to an eight-year extension.

According to an official press release, Vasilevskiy’s new deal is worth $76 million in total or $9.5 million annually. The extension kicks off in 2021/22 NHL season, meaning that the 25-year-old Russian is under team’s control through 2027/28 season.

“Since joining the organization Andrei has shown unmatched work ethic and professionalism both on and off the ice,” – said Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois in a statement. “We look forward to him continuing his career in Tampa Bay for the foreseeable future.”

Vasilevskiy is coming off his best statistical season since he made his NHL debut back in 2015. He finished the 2018/19 with career highs in save percentage (.925) and goals-against average (2.40).

“I’m very excited to sign this extension with the Lightning today,” – said Vasilevskiy. “I’d like to thank the entire organization, including Mr. Vinik, Julien BriseBois and the great Bolts fans, for making this such a great place to play and live for me and my family.”
