Randy Carlyle’s time with Anaheim Ducks has come to an end. Ducks announced on Monday that they have fired Carlyle and that the team’s general manager Bob Murray will take over the team on an interim basis. This coaching change comes after Anaheim went on a seven-game losing streak and fell down to a 21-26-9 record.

Carlyle will leave the Ducks as the franchise’s most winningest coach, having racked up 384 regular season wins during his two stints as the team’s coach.

“We thank Randy for everything he has done for the organization,” – said Murray in a statement. “Leading the team to a Stanley Cup and three conference final appearances, he has accomplished so much in Anaheim. Difficult decisions need to be made when times are tough, and our play has clearly been unacceptable. We have a tradition of success in Anaheim, and we need to get back to that.”

According to sources close to the team, Murray might finish up the season as interim coach before handing over the job to Dallas Eakins in 2019-20. Eakins is currently coaching the San Diego Gulls, Ducks’ AHL affiliate.

Randy Carlyle joined the Anaheim Ducks in 2005 and managed to win the Stanley Cup in his second season with the team. He added four more playoff appearances before being fired after a poor start of the 2011-12 seasons. Carlyle then spent four years with the Toronto Maple Leafs, before returning to Anaheim in 2016.
