Cadiz CF, who was promoted to the first division of Spanish soccer at the end of the 2019-20 season after finishing in second place in La Liga SmartBank, announced the signing of former Spain international striker Alvaro Negredo as their first summer addition.

Negredo, a native of the Spanish capital who spent the past two seasons playing for Al-Nasr in the United Arab Emirates, will return to his home country and look to help spark Cadiz to a promising 2020-21 campaign.

The 34-year-old striker spent time playing for Rayo Vallecano, Almeria, Sevilla, and Valencia earlier in his career, giving him a wealth of experience in Spanish soccer.

Negredo is also known for his stints with Manchester City and Besiktas, the latter of which he left prior to the beginning of the 2018-19 campaign.

The talented striker is perhaps best known for his stint as a forward for the Spanish national team from 2009 to 2013, in which he helped the team win the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament.

While Negredo might be past his prime, his experience and La Liga know-how will be an important tool for Cadiz as they look forward to their first Primera Division campaign since 2005-06.
