Wide receiver Allen Robinson has passed his physical examination with the Pittsburgh Steelers, sources revealed to ESPN on Wednesday. This makes his trade from the Los Angeles Rams official.

In exchange for their seventh-round pick (No. 234), the Steelers have received both Robinson and the Rams’ seventh-round draft pick (No. 251). In addition, the Rams will pay $10.25 million of Robinson’s $15.25 million guaranteed salary for the 2023 season, with the Steelers picking up the remaining $5 million.

Robinson’s arrival in Pittsburgh adds a deeper layer of experience to the Steelers’ lineup, at the same breaking ranks with the team’s typical strategy of building their roster through the draft as opposed to high-profile trades. The team has broken its status quo this offseason, however, embracing an aggressive free agency strategy that has seen the arrival of veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson and guard Isaac Seumalo.

During the last offseason, the 29-year-old Robinson signed a three-year, $46.5 million contract with the Rams. His season went awry in Week 12, however, when he suffered a left ankle injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following surgery, he missed the final six games of the season.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Allen Robinson has asked Chicago Bears to trade him after the two sides failed to agree on a new deal. Robinson’s agent Brandon Parker decided to deny those reports on Tuesday but admitted that his client is “unhappy” with the franchise.

Robinson has one year left on his contract, which will pay him $13 million in 2020. Reportedly, the 27-year-old wideout would like to get an extension sooner than later and aims to get paid top money for the position.

However, the Bears still haven’t given Robinson an offer that he likes, causing the frustration on the player’s side.

Robinson’s recent actions, which included removing all references to Chicago Bears from his social media, come as a surprise, considering he repeatedly told media that he isn’t concerned about getting a new contract.

“I’ve said that before. I’m not focused on that.“ said Robinson last week. “I’m focused on the season. All that other stuff, I let it play out however it plays out. But that’s not of my concern right now.”

Allen Robinson has been a significant performer for the Bears since signing with the team in 2018. Playing in 13 games in his first season with the organization, he recorded 55 receptions for 754 yards and four touchdowns. Robinson then followed this up with a stellar showing in 2019, catching 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven TDs despite playing in a struggling Chicago offense.

Considering the current situation, it appears that Robinson isn’t willing to carry the Bears’ offense anymore without being paid accordingly. It remains to be seen whether Chicago feels the same, or they are willing to start fresh and invest their money somewhere else.
