The Houston Astros are heading back to the playoffs once again as the American League West champions after a 13-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

The reigning World Series champions conquered their division for the third straight season, frustrating their West opponents once again in what has been a dominant 2019 for the team.

George Springer mashed three home runs in the Astros’ win, which was representative of what they’ve done all season. Their pitching has been good while a deep and productive offense has been great and powerful.

Justin Verlander didn’t make his best start on the mound, giving up a pair of runs in five innings of work, but he did enough to get his Major League-leading 20th win of the season.

Those two elements have the Astros looking like one of the favorites to take home the World Series crown once again. With a starting staff headlined by Verlander, Gerrit Cole, and Zack Greinke and a deep lineup, it will be hard for anyone to slow this team down in October.

Now, the Astros will look to finish with the best record in the American League to give them home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They currently hold a half-game lead over the AL East champion New York Yankees.
