Texas Rangers’ pitcher Adrian Sampson will continue his baseball career away from MLB. Rangers announced on Monday that they have placed Sampson on unconditional release waivers, allowing the 28-year-old to accept an offer from South Korea.

Sampson previously negotiated with KBO’s Lotte Giants, and reportedly agreed to a one year deal for the upcoming season.

In the 2019 MLB season, Sampson had 15 starts with the Rangers, going 6-8 and posting 5.89 ERA. He also added 20 relief appearances and was the pitcher with third-most appearances on the team.

Despite being frequently used in the past season, reports from Rangers’ organization indicated that Adrian Sampson won’t make the roster for 2020 considering the fact that the team is entering a rebuild. The most likely scenario for Sampson next season was a minor league deal, so the move to South Korea makes sense from a financial standpoint.

Aside from Texas Rangers, Sampson also played with Seattle Mariners early in his professional career. His MLB career stats include 6–12 record, 5.71 ERA and 118 strikeouts.
