The Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay seems to be coming to an end. According to multiple reports from NFL insiders, the Packers gave the New York Jets permission to talk with Rodgers in person, signaling their willingness to trade the four-time NFL MVP.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported on Tuesday that the Jets’ brass would meet with Rodgers in California with hopes of convincing the future Hall of Fame quarterback to come to New York.

Rodgers has been secretive about his plans for the future since the 2022 NFL season wrapped up. He previously said that all options are at the table, including staying with the Packers, going to another team, or retiring. And while the Green Bay front office has made their wish to keep him on Lambeau Field public, the recent development indicates that they might have a change of mind.

Regardless of the optics of the Jets’ meeting with Rodgers, the trade with the Packers remains a complicated affair. The 39-year-old player is due $108.8 million in the next two seasons, including $59.5 million in 2023. If traded, Green Bay would have to carry a massive $40.3 million cap hit next season.

There is also an issue of compensation. The Packers could ask for a haul for Rodgers, considering that he is still considered one of the best QBs in the league and only one year removed from being a back-to-back MVP. The Jets, on the other hand, might not be willing to mortgage their future on a player that has considered retirement for two straight offseason and could be there for one or two years.

One of the most intriguing storylines during this NFL offseason is the future of the Green Bay Packers’ star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The future Hall of Famer is reportedly considering various options in 2023, including staying with the Packers, playing for another team, or retiring from football altogether.

While Rodgers still hasn’t made the final decision or at least isn’t ready to share it, he admits that he intends to do it “soon enough”.

“It’s best for anybody who has an interest to make a decision sooner rather than later,” Rodgers said in a recent appearance on Aubrey Marcus Podcast.

“This is my life, it’s important to me, and I’ll make a decision soon enough, and then we’ll go down that road and be really excited about it,” he added.

As part of his decision-making process, the four-time NFL MVP recently spent several days at a “darkness retreat.” He said at the time that the experience would help him get a sense of what he wants from the future. Many believed he would share his decision as soon as he leaves the retreat, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Many analysts believe that Rodgers will end up staying with the Packers. There are plenty of reasons for this, including his familiarity with the organization, a projected improvement in the wideout position, and $60 million guaranteed in 2023.

In case Rodgers decides he wants a new challenge late in his career, the New York Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders are considered the favorites to land him.

Aaron Rodgers failed to make a deep playoff run with the Green Bay Packers, but the 38-year-old quarterback can still consider 2021 a success. At the NFL Honors award ceremony held on Thursday, Rodgers was recognized as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player during the regular season and picked up the MVP honors for the second consecutive year.

Rodgers finished the regular season with a 13-2 record in the 15 full games he played, throwing for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns with only four interceptions. His Packers entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in NFC but failed to progress past the Divisional Round.

En route to MVP honors, Rodgers received 39 votes from eligible voters, leaving behind legendary QB Tom Brady, who had 10, and LA Rams’ wideout Cooper Kupp, who received one vote. As a result, he became just the fifth player in NFL history to have back-to-back MVP seasons. Jim Brown, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana are the other four.

Rodgers now has four MVP awards on his resume, with Manning being the only player who has more with five. He won his first two in 2011 and 2014, respectively.

“They’re all different,” said Rodgers. “The first one was really, really special because we came off winning the Super Bowl, and I had my best season to date that next year. It seemed like we were a juggernaut chugging along and going to win another one. That obviously didn’t happen. The divisional round disappointment. But they’ve all been unique in their own ways. I think the latest one always feels the sweetest.”

The NFL Honors ceremony also saw outside linebacker T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers being named Defensive Player of the Year after tying the league’s record for most sacks in a single season. In addition, Kupp, who put together a historic season for a wide receiver, took home the award for Offensive Player of the Year. Unsurprisingly, Dallas Cowboys’ phenom Micah Parsons was named Defensive Rookie of the Year while Cincinnati Bengals’ WR Ja’Marr Chase got the Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers cleared the confusion surrounding the injury that plagued him in Sunday’s 34-31 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. According to Rodgers, he is dealing with a fractured pinkie toe but doesn’t expect to miss any time because of it.

During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers and host Pat McAfee discussed the injury and jokingly referred to it as “COVID toe”. The reigning NFL MVP previously spent ten days in quarantine, having tested positive on coronavirus. The joke quickly took a life of its own, and several media outlets reported it as a fact.

Seeing that things got out of hand, Rodgers decided to set everything straight during a news conference on Wednesday. He even showed his toe to the reporters on camera to make his point.

“Oh, oh there’s no lesions whatsoever. Oh, what a surprise,” Rodgers said. “No, that’s actually called disinformation when you perpetuate false information about an individual. I have a fractured toe.”

Rodgers explained that he is looking into various options to deal with the injury, with one of them being surgery during Green Bay’s bye week.

“I’ll definitely look at all options over the bye and decide what would be best to make sure that I get to the finish line,” he added.

Despite the injury, Rodgers delivered a stellar performance against the Vikings. He completed almost 70 percent of his passes while throwing for 385 yards and four touchdowns.

The Packers are currently sitting first in NFC North with an 8-3 record. They are set to play the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have managed to settle their differences, at least for the time being. Rodgers, who submitted a trade request in the offseason, joined the team for a training camp earlier this week and is expected to play for the organization in the 2021 NFL season.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers only decided to rejoin the team after the Packers offered him several concessions. This included voiding the final year of his contract and pleading to revisit his situation after the season ends.

Rodgers finished the 2020 NFL season winning the NFL MVP Award and leading the Packers to the NFC Championship Game for the second year in a row. But shortly after the season ended, the 37-year-old superstar made a shocking trade request. He was reportedly unhappy with some of the decision making including Green Bay trading up to draft QB Jordan Love in the first round.

But despite Rodger’s unhappiness, the Packers remained firm in their decision to keep their star QB. They rejected multiple trade proposals for Rodgers, and general manager Brian Gutekunst and president Mark Murphy instead made efforts to repair the broken relationship.

One of the attempts included offering Rodgers a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player in football. However, Rodgers rejected the proposal and was reportedly willing to sit out the year if he wasn’t moved. He also opted to skip all the team’s offseason activities.

Finally, the two sides made progress late last week when Packers offered Rodgers various concessions in order to lure him back. The agreement between the two sides is that they will ride out this year together and then decide on the future once the 2021 season wraps up.

The Green Bay Packers traveled to Tampa Bay on Sunday to meet the Buccaneers with a mission to solidify their place as the best team in NFC. Instead, they were handed a tough loss that seriously shakes their position as a Super Bowl contender.

Everything was going as planned for the Packers early in the game, as they scored a field goal and a touchdown via Aaron Jones to finish the first quarter with a 10-0 lead. It is hard to believe that this will be all they did by the end of the game.

Packers started unraveling early in the second when quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw his first interception in 2020 and only his third career pick-six. On 3rd&10, deep in his own half, Rodgers threw to wideout Davante Adams on the left sideline. But just as Adams was about to make a catch for a new first down, Bucs’ safety Jamel Dean jumped in front of him, snatched the ball, and carried it all the way to the endzone.

Packers were hoping to put this ugly play behind them on the following possession but stumbled on another third-down conversion. On 3rd&4, Rodgers tried to find Adams once again but the throw bounced off of the wide receiver’s hands and was picked up by Tampa’s Mike Edwards.

Edwards carried the ball all the way to the Packers’ 5-yard line, making it easy for quarterback Tom Brady and the rest of the Bucs’ offense to find a way into the endzone.

After this quick turnaround, Packers completely lost it. The defense wasn’t able to stop anything, while the offense couldn’t start cooking no matter what they tried.

Bucs continued to pile up points and scored two more touchdowns to end the first half. They added 10 more points in the third period, allowing themselves a comfy cushion to see out the rest of the game.

Tampa Bay improved to 4-2 and is showing that the early struggles were just a result of adjusting to new players and changes in the system.

Packers were handed their first loss of the season, and are now 4-1. But it appears that Rodgers believes losing at this point of the year will prove beneficial for his team.

“You don’t ever want to lose like this,” said Rodgers after the game. “I felt like we needed a little bit of a wake-up call at some point this season because things have been so good and there’s been so much talk maybe outside the building about the ease with which we’re moving the ball on offense and scoring. I think we needed kind of a kick in the ass a little bit.“

Green Bay Packers’ lost the NFC Championship game against San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and failed to reach their second Super Bowl appearance in the Aaron Rodgers era. Still, despite this heartbreaking failure and fact that he recently turned 36, Rodgers believes his team’s window for returning to Super Bowl is still there.

Talking with reporters after the 37-20 loss, Rodgers expressed optimism that his team will soon be again in the same situation and will emerge on the winning side of the contest.

“The window’s open, and I think we’re going to be on the right side of one of these real soon,” said Rodgers. “That’s the exciting thing. It doesn’t make this feeling any easier, but that is very exciting moving forward.”

Rodgers acknowledged that there is a gap between them and 49ers, but thinks it isn’t as big as many people believe.

“Well, it looks pretty big,” he added. “They got us a couple times, but I don’t think it’s that big. I think we’re really close. I think we’re just a little more consistent performance away from consistently playing with these guys.”

Green Bay Packers had a disastrous first half, falling behind 27 points in the first half in which Aaron Rodgers failed to put any points on the board, being harassed by San Francisco’s defense. Rodgers bounced back to finish the game with 326 yards and two touchdowns, but he also added two interceptions.

This was Rodgers’ fourth trip to NFC Championship and his third loss. The one time he managed to go past this hurdle, he won it all.

Green Bay Packers’ star quarterback Aaron Rodgers cares about winning, even if that doesn’t look pretty on the field. Following a tough 20-15 win against struggling Washington Redskins on Sunday, Rodgers said he doesn’t mind winning ugly if that will get his team to a Super Bowl.

Packers entered the Redskins game as overwhelming favorites, considering that Washington was at 3-9. After two touchdowns in the first quarter, Green Bay’s offense stalled and scored just two field goals for the rest of the game. Redskins attempted a comeback, but the Packs managed to hold them off to go to 10-3 record.

“We’ve got to clean some of that stuff up, but I wouldn’t mind winning ugly all the way to the Super Bowl,” – said Rodgers after the game.

Rodgers finished the game by completing 18 out of 28 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. This was the third time in last five games that the 36-year-old had below 200 passing yards.

“Winning is the only thing that matters,” – he added. “Even in the midst of some of these games that aren’t great flow the entire time, we are winning. We expect to win games when the defense holds them to less than 20 points.”

With the win against Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers pulled one game ahead of Minnesota Vikings in NFC North. Packers have three more games left, including a visit to Vikings’ U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 16.

In previous years, Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers got accustomed of having to put on some unreal performances in the attempt to overcome the deficits of his defense and get a win for his team. It seems like he doesn’t have to do that anymore.

In the first three games of the 2019 NFL season, the story of the Packers isn’t Rodgers or offense; it’s their intimidating defense. The defense carried Green Bay to 3-0 record and made up for the growing pains that the offense had under the new coach Matt LaFleur. They lead the league in QB pressures and takeaways while being second in scoring.

Packers’ offense, on the other side, ranks at the bottom of the NFL in total offense, third-down conversion, and scoring. It’s something that Rodgers doesn’t want to see happening.

“It’s time for us to do our part on offense,” – said Rodgers ahead of Thursday’s game against Philadelphia Eagles. “Moving forward, we’re going to play a stretch of really good football teams. At some point, we can’t expect our defense to shut everybody down. They have been, but at some point, the offense is going to have to wake up and start making some plays.”

Rodgers has been especially quiet this season, throwing for just 647 yards and four touchdowns, while having QBR of 96.5. The rest of the offense is also slow to wake up, as their star wide receiver Davante Adams has 15 catches for 198 yards and no TDs to show for while tight end Jimmy Graham managed only three catches for 30 yards.

Although things look good for Green Bay at the moment, Rodgers knows that he has to do his part in order for his team to have a real chance at the Super Bowl this year.

“We’ve never wanted to just manage the football game around here,” – he added. “The standards are very high for us. We’ve got to play a lot better on offense. We’ve played some good defenses, no doubt about it, but the standard and expectations are very high here, and we haven’t met them on offense.”

While things didn’t work out very well for the Green Bay Packers in 2018, the team can now hope to get it better in 2019 since they will have quarterback Aaron Rodgers in full health. Rodgers recently spoke with NLF Network and revealed that he managed to avoid surgery and will be ready for this year’s training camp.

Rodgers suffered a knee injury in the season opener against Chicago Bears, and the 35-year-old was forced to wear a brace for the better part of the season. He also hinted that surgery might be required in the offseason to help him overcome the issue, which would make him questionable for 2019 season opener. Luckily for Green Bay, however, that won’t be the case.

“I feel great,” – said Rodgers. “My body feels really good. Instead of getting surgery postseason, decided to kind of go through a different routine with my knee than I’ve done in the past, and I’m feeling really, really good. Got a concussion the last game, that’s cleared up. I’m feeling really good. I’m getting back into my workout routine, but the first month of the offseason is a lot about yoga and traveling.”

The worrying thing about Aaron Rodgers’ injury was that it happened on the knee he repaired several times. He had an ACL reconstruction on it during college, and then had another surgery in 2015, which was described as “cleanup.”

Despite struggling with the injury, Rodgers played on a high level throughout the better part of the season. He completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 4,442 yards and 25 touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions.
