The Denver Nuggets and forward Aaron Gordon have come to terms on a four-year extension, according to multiple reports. The agreement locks Gordon, who arrived in Denver in a trade from the Orlando Magic in March, to the franchise through the 2025-26 NBA season.

The Nuggets still haven’t made the official announcement about the deal, but the news has already been confirmed to The Athletic’s Shams Charania by Gordon’s agency Klutch Sports. Charania also reports that the extension is worth $92 million. Gordon will receive $88 million in salary while also having an opportunity to earn an additional $4 million through easily achievable incentives.

Many believed that the Nuggets would take their time with extending Gordon, especially since he didn’t deliver any stellar performances since arriving from Orlando. The 26-year-old star played 25 games since the trade and averaged only 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest.

However, it appears that the Nuggets didn’t want to take any risks and have Gordon think about hitting the free agency next offseason. This would be especially painful for the franchise considering they gave up a significant package consisting of Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton, and a first-round pick in order to get him.

With Gordon now staying for the foreseeable future, the Nuggets are now expected to turn their attention to talented small forward Michael Porter Jr. and tie him to a long-term extension as well. The two sides are reportedly already engaged in talks and might have an agreement soon.
