After being rebuffed by Nick Nurse, the Phoenix Suns quickly regrouped and have reportedly found a new head coach. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Suns are expected to hire former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel.

According to Wojnarowski, Vogel will ink a five-year deal with the franchise. The 49-year-old coach was jobless since being fired by the Lakers at the end of the 2021-22 NBA season.

The Suns fired their head coach Monty Williams after a disappointing playoff run that ended with elimination in the conference semifinals. The franchise considered a number of candidates, both experienced head coaches, and assistants, and was keen on hiring Nurse, who won an NBA title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.

When Nurse opted to take the Philadelphia 76ers job, the Suns made a shortlist that included Vogel, ex-76ers head coach Doc Rivers, and their own assistant Kevin Young. In the end, Vogel emerged as the best candidate and was offered the job on Friday.

Frank Vogel coached the Indiana Pacers, the Orlando Magic, and the Lakers in his career. He made two Conference Finals with the Pacers while leading the Lakers to a championship in 2020. Vogel has a head coaching record of 431 wins and 389 losses.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
