Mikal Bridges and the Phoenix Suns have agreed to a contract extension, the player’s agents, Sam Goldfeder and Jordan Gertler of Excel Sports confirmed on Sunday. The four-year deal is worth $90 million and will see Bridges receive a fully guaranteed salary of $22.5 million per season.
Having played the entirety of his NBA career so far with the Suns, Bridges boasts career highs of 13.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. The 25-year-old player proved to be a vital component in the Suns’ team last season, helping them reach the NBA Finals against all odds.
Goldfeder expressed his confidence in the player, furthermore stating that the contract extension is highly deserved. “Wherever he has gone, he has won. It’s no accident. He is the player who buys into a culture as well as sets a culture.”
The signing of Bridges’ contract extension comes just a few hours before the deadline for rookie extensions for the 2018 draft class. The player’s agents completed contract talks with Suns’ general manager James Jones on Sunday afternoon, while the deadline is 6 PM Eastern Time on Monday.
