Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren have been appointed as assistant coaches to Premier League club Manchester United, the club confirmed on Twitter on Monday.

The pair are the latest appointments to join what will be an entirely new backroom staff at Man Utd and will provide coaching support to newly-appointed manager Erik ten Hag.

Former defender Van der Haag, who played as a center back for the likes of Dutch outfit PSV and Scottish side Motherwell, entered into a coaching career following his retirement as a player. His latest coaching appointment was that of assistant manager at Ajax during the 2021-22 season, where he served alongside head coach ten Hag.

McLaren, who had a brief stint as England manager between 2006 and 2007, has managed an array of European clubs over a two-decade coaching career. He also has coaching experience at Manchester United, having served as the assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson from 1999 to 2001.

According to reports, ten Hag may still consider making more appointments to his backroom staff, however, this largely depends on his assessment of the staff who are already employed by the club.

Ten Hag is expected to host his first press conference as Manchester United manager on Monday afternoon.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
