Steph Curry has signed a one-year contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, the team confirmed. According to Curry’s agent, Jeff Austin of Octagon, the deal is worth $62.6 million. This means that Curry will become the fourth player in NBA history, behind LeBron James, Paul George, and Kevin Durant, to amass career earnings over $500 million.
“I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life,” Curry confirmed. “At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible.” But while the star point guard has expressed a desire to retire with the only franchise he has played for, he also expressed a desire to continue competing for titles.
The Warriors have been focused on getting the most out of Curry’s remaining years with the team while also revamping its roster with younger talent. In July, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy expressed this desire to retain Curry, going so far as to guarantee that the veteran can receive any requests he wants in order to remain at the franchise.
