The Pittsburgh Steelers added depth to their wide receiver core on Tuesday by signing veteran wideout Anthony Miller. The move comes days after the franchise learned that their Pro Bowl wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster is out for the season.

The deal will initially see Miller join the Steelers’ practice squad, but we should probably see him on their active roster sooner than later. The 27-year-old started the 2021 NFL season with the Houston Texans but was released after playing two games and making five catches for 23 yards and a touchdown.

The Steelers made several additional moves on Tuesday, releasing nose tackle Eli Ankou from the practice squad and adding defensive tackle Isaiah Mack.

Anthony Miller started his pro career with the Chicago Bears, who selected him in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft. Miller put together a compelling rookie campaign rookie campaign in which he caught seven touchdowns and followed it up with 52 catches and 656 yards season in 2019.

The Bears expected Miller to make a jump in his third year in NFL, but that didn’t happen as he only managed 485 yards and two TDs despite playing all 16 games and starting six of them. The franchise eventually traded him to the Texans in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
