The Los Angeles Rams agreed to a 4-year extension with quarterback Jared Goff, reportedly worth $134 million. Goff still has 2 years left on his 5-year rookie contract, so with the additional 4 years signed on Tuesday night, he is guaranteed to be a Ram through 2024 at least.
Goff is expected to earn $4.3 million this season, so the next 5 years are a significant increase for the centerpiece of the Rams offense. The $110 million in guaranteed money tops the deal Carson Wentz signed in June and is an NFL record.
This is a fitting move for the Rams who had the 15th pick before the 2016 NFL draft but made a big trade upgrade to first overall in order to get Goff. After an up and down rookie season, Goff has been outstanding in the past 2 seasons, leading his team to the NFC Championship game and an appearance in the Super Bowl respectively.
He is 24-14 as a starter with 65 touchdowns and 26 interceptions to go along with his two Pro Bowl selections.
