All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey will enter the 2020 NFL season with a new contract. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ramsey agreed to a massive five-year, $105 million extension from the Los Angeles Rams that will make him the highest-paid CB in the history of the league.

Ramsey’s new contract comes with $21 million annually and reported $71.2 million guaranteed, which is a record for a defensive back. The 25-year-old corner has one year left on his rookie deal that will see him earn $13.7 million in 2020.

Rams later confirmed the extension but didn’t disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Rams acquired Jalen Ramsey early in the 2019 season, sending a package that included two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder to Jacksonville Jaguars. While Ramsey didn’t manage to replicate his performances from the previous year since coming to LA, he was still a solid producer and finished the year with 33 tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception.

Despite last season’s slip, the Rams seem to be confident that Ramsay can be the future of their franchise for years to come. And they have every reason to be since he is already considered to be one of the best, if not the best, players at his position.

In his first three years with the Jags, Ramsay racked up 193 tackles, 44 passes defended, nine interceptions, and one defensive touchdown while often managing to completely take out the opponent’s best receiver out of the game. He also earned Pro Bowl nods every year since 2017 and has one First-Team All-Pro selection.
