Tottenham Hotspur has completed the permanent signing of Cristian Romero, the club announced on Tuesday. In a deal worth €55 million ($65 million), the centerback’s newly-inked contract with the Premier League club will last until 2027.

Romero arrived in North London last season on a year-long loan deal from Italian Serie A club Atalanta. He has so far had an instrumental impact on the club, playing 30 matches last season and helping his team to a top four finish. He has so far also played a major role in Spurs’ strong start to the season. Tottenham has amassed 10 points in their first four games, with three wins and one draw.

Tottenham’s other permanent signings this summer include Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, and Yves Bissouma, with manager Antonio Conte stating that his team needs “at least two” transfer windows to challenge for the Premier League title. “If you compare to last season, we are more complete,” Conte stated. “But to reach other teams at the top level, we need time, patience and transfer markets, at least two transfer markets to reach the same level.”

Romero has earned 11 caps for Argentina, playing a role in the South American team’s rise to Copa America glory in 2021.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
