After a tough 2021-22 season with Southampton, veteran winger Theo Walcott is reportedly considering a move to MLS. According to The Sun, if Walcott picks the United States as his next destination, he would prefer to play in New York or Los Angeles.

Walcott has every reason to be unhappy in Southampton, having made 12 appearances across all competitions during this campaign. To make things worse, he played his most recent game in February in FA Cup and hasn’t been featured in Premier League at all in 2022.

While Walcott still has one year on his contract, Southampton wouldn’t mind letting him leave early. He isn’t in manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans, and the club would also appreciate having his big wages off their books.

Theo Walcott came through Southampton’s academy and was once considered one of the brightest English talents. After just 23 senior appearances for Southampton, Walcott secured a transfer to Arsenal in 2006. He would go on to spend 12 seasons in London, making 397 appearances and scoring 108 goals in all competitions.

Seeing his playing time with Arsenal diminished, Walcott made a switch to Everton in 2018. But the former England international didn’t last long in Merseyside, leaving the club after 85 played games to rejoin Southampton first on loan and then on a permanent deal.
