It seems like Seattle Sounders are quite happy with Brad Smith’s performances so far in the season as they decided to keep Australian full-back until the end of 2019. Sounders confirmed on Wednesday that they came to an agreement with AFC Bournemouth to extend Smith’s loan for the remainder of the MLS season.

Smith is currently enjoying a productive season with Sounders and has made 17 appearances this year in which he contributed with four assists.

“We’re very pleased to have worked out a deal with Bournemouth to keep Brad here through the current campaign,” – said Sounders’ general manager Garth Lagerwey in a statement. “Brad has performed admirably since he arrived in Seattle and is an important piece of our current squad, so we’re excited to have him here as we approach the homestretch of the season.”

Brad Smith came to Seattle in August 2018 on a one-year loan and immediately won the starting full back position. He, unfortunately, suffered a hamstring injury late in 2018, which made him miss the playoffs.

“Brad has been a great fit in our team since he arrived in 2018, so I’m very happy that he’ll be with us through the end of the 2019 season,” – added Sounders FC coach Brian Schmetzer s. “In addition to his on-field quality, he’s been a valuable member of our locker room and has meshed well with the group. He will be an important piece to the team as we try and close out the season as MLS Cup champion.”

Smith started his career with Premier League powerhouse Liverpool but managed to make only five appearances for the club between 2013 and 2016. He joined AFC Bournemouth in 2016 but failed to earn more meaningful minutes there as well, so he decided to make a switch to MLS.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
