Sheffield United Fire Heckingbottom, Name Replacement

Sheffield United parted ways with manager Paul Heckingbottom after the team’s 5-0 loss to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. This makes Heckingbottom the first manager to be dismissed in the Premier League this season.

The club confirmed Heckingbottom’s sacking on Tuesday, releasing the following statement: “Sheffield United can confirm that football manager Paul Heckingbottom has been relieved of his duties. Additionally, coaches Stuart McCall and Mark Hudson, have also left the club.”

Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the club’s owner, confirmed during an interview that previous Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder will return to the club to take over from Heckingbottom. Taking charge of the club in 2021, Heckingbottom led the Blades to second place in the Championship, thereby securing promotion to the Premier League. This season, the team has managed just one win and five points 14 Premier League games.
