After ending his stint with Lokomotiv Moscow earlier this month, Peru international winger Jefferson Farfan could reportedly head to Major League Soccer. According to Peruvian media outlets, Farfan attracted interest from several MLS teams, including New York City FC.

Farfan spent the previous four seasons in Russia, scoring 25 goals in 69 matches with Lokomotiv and helping the club win the Russian Premier League and two Russian Cup trophies. His contract expired in August, and the two sides decided to go their separate ways.

Farfan is currently in Peru but is already plotting his next move and considers several offers from North America. ESPN’s Diego Montalvan reports that NYCFC, Portland Timbers, Montreal Impact, and Inter Miami are among the suitors for the 35-year-old Peruvian.

Sources close to the player said that Farfan is interested in joining a team that has ambitions to win the MLS Cup. Also, he is looking to be a regular starter and wouldn’t settle for a bench role.

Jefferson Farfan spent most of his career in Europe, where he successfully played for PSV Eindhoven and Schalke 04. With Peru’s national side, Farfan has 95 appearances and was part of the team that reached 2019’s Copa America Finals.
