Seria A side Genoa came up with an intriguing way to unveil its third jersey for the 2024-25 season. The Italian club has recruited WWE star The Undertaker to showcase the new fit in a series of posts shared on social media earlier this week.
The Undertaker can be seen rocking the all-black jersey with gold details and lettering while performing a series of his trademark gestures.
The Undertaker is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time, having won four WWF/WWE Championship titles, among other recognitions. He officially retired in 2020 but has made sporadic appearances on WWE shows since.
“The entertainment, music, artists, and sports genre is enriched with the wrestling champion Undertaker,” Genoa said of The Undertaker’s involvement. “He is in the Olympus of ring legends in a beloved and transgenerational sport.”
Recruiting celebrities for jersey unveils isn’t new for Genoa. Last year, the club had pop star Rita Ora serve in this role.
Genoa is the oldest active soccer club in Italy, founded in 1893. It won the national league nine times and won one Italian Cup. However, its most recent national title came in 1923–24, and the club has been struggling in recent years. It is currently sitting 17th in Seria A standings with just one point above the relegation zone.
