Barcelona forward Sergio Aguero has been admitted to hospital following his early exit from the Blaugranes’ 1-1 draw with Alavez on Saturday. The 33-year-old was taken off the field shortly before half-time due to suffering from chest pain that rendered him unable to continue the game.
At the time of the incident, Aguero immediately clenched at his chest and was unable to remove himself from the field of play. After a lengthy consultation with Barca’s medical team, Aguero was eventually able to make his way off the field himself.
The Argentinean national was swiftly transported to the hospital and is currently waiting to undergo a cardiac exam, the club revealed in an official statement on the matter.
Having arrived at Barcelona during the summer transfer window, Aguero only made his Barcelona debut at the start of October due to recovering from an injured calf that the player incurred during preseason training. Aguero scored his first goal for the Blaugranes during their 2-1 El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid last weekend.
Currently, Barca is struggling with a long list of injuries and fitness issues. While Gerard Pique incurred a calf strain during the match against Alaves, Ansu Fati, Frenkie de Jong, and Pedri were just some of the players who were unavailable due to fitness issues.
