Ottawa Senators continued their busy offseason by snatching one of the top remaining free agents on the market. The team confirmed on Thursday that they have signed Evgenii Dadonov to a three-year contract.

Dadonov’s deal with Senators comes with a total value of $15 million and will see him earn $3.5 million next season, $5 million in 2021/21, and $6.5 million in the last year of his contract. The 31-year-old winger reportedly also got a 10-team modified no-trade clause as part of the agreement.

Dadonov is coming off a productive season with Florida Panthers in which he scored 25 goals and added 22 assists for a total of 47 points in 69 games.

“We’re thrilled to have come to an agreement with Evgenii,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He’s an elite offensive talent and a very consistent scorer as demonstrated by his point totals over the past three seasons. This is a key signing for us as it adds a player who will help us produce offensively and one with a proven track record on the power-play.”

Evgenii Dadonov spent the better part of his career playing in native Russia and has been prominently used by Panthers only since the 2017/18 NHL season. Dadonov’s stats in the National Hockey League include 91 goals and 111 assists in 280 games.

Ottawa previously acquired goaltender Matt Murray from Pittsburgh Penguins, immediately signing him to a big contract extension, while also taking three first-round picks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
