Although Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor hasn’t officially retired, he won’t take the field in 2018. Seahawks placed Chancellor, who is recovering from a neck injury, on the reserve/physically unable to perform list which ultimately ruled him out for the season.

Kam Chancellor was part of Seahawks notorious secondary known as “Legion of Boom” and has established himself as one of the league’s premier safeties since being drafted in the fifth round of 2010 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, he suffered a neck injury in Week 10 of 2017, which jeopardized his football career. Chancellor recently said that recovery isn’t going as planned and hinted that he could retire.

Seattle Seahawks made other roster moves including waving defensive end Malik McDowell, who leaves the team before playing a single game. McDowell was the 35th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and supposed to be an essential part of Seahawks’ future. But weeks before entering the training camp he suffered a head injury after being involved in involved in an ATV accident.

Malik McDowell spent the 2017 season on non-football injury list due to injuries he sustained in the crash.

It always was disappointing,” – said Seahawks coach Pete Carroll of McDowell’s situation. “This whole process has been disappointing because he had a real upside. We took a big pick to take him and all that, and unfortunately it didn’t happen. We made a move last year because he wasn’t here so that just shows you how important he was.”
