Seattle Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer has been placed on injured reserve, the team confirmed on Sunday. Grubauer suffered a lower-body injury during the Krakens’ 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday night to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Prior to exiting the game, Grubauer saved 21 of 23 of the Lightning’s shots. This took him to a 3.25 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage for the season to date. With the 32-year-old player in goal, the Krakens have gone 5-9-1, putting them in sixth place in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.

While the Krakens recalled goaltender Chris Driedger and defenseman Jaycob Megna from the American Hockey League following Grubauer’s injury, it was Grubauer’s regular backup Joey Daccord who filled in as Seattle’s goaltender during Sunday’s 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Driegder has had a long absence from the Krakens, last playing during the 2021-22 season.
