Another star wideout from the 2019 class got paid. This time it was Pro Bowler DK Metcalf, who inked a three-year, $72 million extension with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Metcalf’s extension comes with $58.2 million guaranteed. He will also receive a $30 million signing bonus, the biggest ever given to a wide receiver.

Since being drafted by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Metcalf was a synonym for consistency. He didn’t miss a single game and only failed to start once during his rookie season. Altogether, he managed 216 receptions for 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Metcalf and the Seahawks were engaged in extension talks for some time, but the two sides had a tough time finding common ground. There was some chatter that the franchise is even considering trading the Ole Miss product as part of the rebuilding efforts after they’ve parted ways with star quarterback Russell Wilson. However, it turned out that the deal was there to be made, and whoever is Seattle’s next QB will have a lot easier time moving the ball down the field with Metcalf on his side.

After DK Metcalf got extended, the only notable wideouts for 2019 without a new deal are Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers) and Diontae Johnson (Pittsburgh Steelers). AJ Brown, Terry McLaurin, and Hunter Renfrow previously all received big-time deals.
