It appears that Seattle Seahawks Pro-Bowl safety Kam Chancellor is flirting with retirement. The reason for the 30-year-old to consider saying goodbye to football is a neck injury he suffered in Week 10 of 2017 season. It looks like his recovery isn’t going as planned and Chancellor is ready to call it quits.

To walk away from the game by choice is one thing, to walk away from the game because of the risk of paralysis is another,” – Chancellor wrote in a statement.

Still, Kam Chancellor never mentioned the word “retire” in his tweet, so there is a possibility that this decision isn’t final. He currently has two years left on his deal with Seahawks, with the $6.2 million and $5.2 million base salaries for 2018 and 2019 guaranteed.

Seattle Seahawks drafted Chancellor in the fifth round of 2010 NFL draft, and he went on to establish himself as one of the league’s best safeties and was a founding member of Seahawks notorious defense nicknamed “Legion of Boom.”

Kam Chancellor won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks and received two Second-team All-Pro honors and four Pro Bowl selections during his NFL career. His stats include 606 total tackles, 2.0 sacks, 44 pass deflections and nine forced fumbles.
