The Seattle Seahawks gave themselves more time to see what they have in newly-acquired tight end Noah Fant. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks decided to pick the fifth-year option on Noah’s contract on Tuesday.

Noah was the Denver Broncos’ 20th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He arrived in Seattle as part of the blockbuster trade that saw Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson head to Denver.

Fant had career-high 68 catches in 2021, leading all Broncos’ receivers. He finished the campaign with 670 passing yards and four touchdowns. After getting his fifth year picked up, the Iowa product is now set to earn close to $7 million in 2023. He also becomes the first player in the Seahawks’ franchise history that had his option picked up.

The Seattle Seahawks haven’t had productive tight ends in past seasons, so it makes sense for them to get an extended look at Fant. Despite not matching the production with his high draft selections, he was solid for the Broncos and still has a big upside.

Since entering the league, Fant made 170 receptions for 1,905 yards and 10 TDs. He made the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2019.
