Seattle Seahawks’ linebacker K.J. Wright might end up spending the start of 2018 season on the sidelines. Wright underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday, and according to Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll, the 29-year-old Pro Bowler is expected to miss “a couple of weeks.”

They talked about a couple of weeks.” – said Carroll when asked when Wright could come back. “It was the most optimistic we could be.

K.J. Wright felt something was wrong with his knee on Friday, after a game against Minnesota Vikings. According to Carroll, Wright’s discomfort wasn’t caused by a hit in the game or something similar, but the team still wanted to do a knee scope procedure to make sure he is in full shape when the season starts.

He didn’t get hit or anything or didn’t have an episode; just felt that maybe something wasn’t quite right and took a good look at it,” – Seahawks’ coach explained on Monday. “So we’re going to do a scope job and get him back quick.

In case that K.J. Wright, doesn’t return in time for Week 1, the starting place will probably go to rookie Shaquem Griffin. Griffin, who was selected in fifth round of 2018 NFL Draft, is the first player with one hand to get picked in the league’s modern era. Central Florida linebacker showed promise in preseason games, recording 18 tackles.

Besides Wright, Seattle Seahawks could also be forced to start the regular season without tight end Ed Dickson. The 31-year-old is dealing with quad injury and has suffered a setback in his recovery according to Carroll.

Seahawks open the season on September 9th at Denver Broncos.
