Scottie Barnes, Evan Mobley, and Cade Cunningham Highlight the 2022 NBA All-Rookie First Team

There wasn’t much surprise on Wednesday when the league revealed the names of players who were selected to the 2022 NBA All-Rookie First Team. The list is highlighted by the 2022’s Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors), who is joined by fellow ROTY finalists Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons’ Cade Cunningham. All three players received a maximum of 100 first-team votes and 200 points.

Barnes averaged 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1. steals in 74 games with Toronto this season. Mobley had 15.0 points per game and led all rookies with 8.3 rebounds on average, while Cunningham was first in scoring with 17.4 points per contest.

Orlando Magic’s Franz Wagner, with 84 first-team votes, and the Houston Rockets’ Jalen Green, with 54 first-team votes, also cracked the list of best rookies this past season. Wagner averaged 15.2 points in 79 games for Magic, while Green had 17.3 points per game.

The league also unveiled the players who made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. The list is highlighted by Herbert Jones (New Orleans Pelicans) and Josh Giddey (Oklahoma City Thunder), who received 32 and 24 first-team place votes, respectively. The only other player to receive first-team votes was Chicago Bulls’ Ayo Dosunmu.

The 2022 NBA All-Rookie Second Team was completed with the additions of Bones Hyland (Denver Nuggets) and Chris Duarte of the Indiana Pacers.
