Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup after the Middle Eastern nation became the only nation to launch a bid before the deadline closed, FIFA confirmed.
For the 2034 edition of the tournament, FIFA opened the bidding to nations from Asia and Oceania, with the Saudi delegation announcing their bid minutes after the announcement on October 4. While Australia had previously expressed an interest in hosting, the nation decided not to submit a bid, leaving Saudi Arabia as the sole bidder.
FIFA also confirmed that the 2030 World Cup would be jointly hosted by Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, while Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay would host celebratory games.
