The San Diego Padres are heading into the 2019-20 MLB offseason as one of the league’s trendiest teams, and it turns out that they will have new threads to play in for next season after a presentation at Petco Park on Saturday.

The Padres, who had long worn minimally creative white and blue threads that seemed to represent an era of lackluster performance, will ditch those uniforms for a new brown and yellow color scheme in 2020.

Star players Manny Machado, Eric Hosmer, and Fernando Tatis Jr. presented the three new uniforms on Saturday night.

Machado trotted out the team’s new pinstriped home threads, Hosmer debuted the new brown road jerseys that go with tan pants, and Tatis Jr. presented a tan pinstriped alternate uniform.

With their new threads, the franchise is attempting to hearken back to the 1970s and 1980s, when the Padres donned uniforms with these colors in its first years as a team.

Uniforms aren’t the only new things that San Diego will debut next season. They are also heading into 2020 with a new manager, Jayce Tingler, and hopefully a new mindset as they look to break a streak of 13 consecutive seasons without making the playoffs.
