It’s safe to say the New Orleans Saints didn’t open the 2020 NFL season the way they hoped. The Saints are currently 1-2 in the first three weeks and are riding a two-game losing streak, which caused many people to abandon projections that this is a Super Bowl contender.

New Orleans’ players are well aware of the chatter surrounding the team, but it appears they won’t let that bother them. According to their star running back Alvin Kamara, the Saints will soon prove doubters wrong.

“When you’re losing, it’s easy to point fingers, say this, and say that. But we’ll get back on track, and everybody will shut up,” said Kamara during a chat with reporters on Thursday.

There were several things that went wrong for the Saints in the last two games. For starters, they lost All-Pro wideout Michael Thomas in Week 1 to an ankle injury, while several other players dealt with minor issues as well. Their quarterback Drew Brees hasn’t been his usual self while the New Orleans’ secondary has been putting a surprisingly poor showing as well.

One thing that undoubtedly went well for the Saints, however, is Alvin Kamara’s play. Kamara has almost singlehandedly carried the team’s offense and has rushed for 153 yards while adding 27 catches for 285 receiving yards in 2020. The 25-year-old Pro Bowler also added six touchdowns to open the season.

Saints will have the opportunity to leave a better impression on Sunday when they face Detroit Lions.
