After showing promise in the 59 games he played with the Buffalo Sabres last season, defenseman Nathan Beaulieu expected to get a chance to do even more in 2018-19. Unfortunately for him, Sabres had other plans, and the 26-year-old isn’t getting the minutes he would want this season.  Because of this, Beaulieu is now considering to look for them somewhere else.

According to the player’s agent, Kent Hughes, Beaulieu is open to being traded if his status with Buffalo doesn’t change.

“He’s not unhappy with Buffalo, he’s just looking for more of an opportunity to play,”- Hughes told ESPN.

Hughes also clarified that he didn’t make an official trade request and that he will “continue going about his business” and respect any decision the team makes.

Nathan Beaulieu joined the Buffalo Sabres in June 2017, being traded from Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a third-round draft pick. In his first season, Beaulieu played in 59 games, managing to score one goal and provide eight assists.

This season he played only 26 of 47 regular season games but was still able to contribute three goals and four assists. The more worrying thing for Beaulieu, however, is that he doesn’t even get the chances to dress in the past week being on the ice in just three out of the last 14 games.
