Earlier this month quarterback Russell Wilson reportedly told Seattle Seahawks that he wants a new contract extension and that he wants it soon. But it seems like that isn’t the only thing Wilson wants, at least according to Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu.

Mathieu went on Twitter on Sunday and wrote that Wilson would like to play football in New York.

“Russ wants New York,” – the Mathieu wrote. “But you ain’t heard that from T..”

While Mathieu’s comments might be disregarded as just a random tweet, Chiefs safety said numerous times that he respects Russell Wilson and admires his football skills. This makes it unlikely for his comments to be just an attempt to get the flood of rumors going. Also, this isn’t the first time that Wilson-New York link was mentioned.

Earlier in the year, Fox’ Colin Cowherd reported that he got inside info that Wilson would like to play for the New York Giants at some point in his career. According to Cowherd’s source, this was largely influenced by the 30-year-old QB’s wife and singer Ciara who would prefer to live in New York than in Seattle.

It remains to be seen whether Russell Wilson sticks with Seahawks and signs another big deal or leaves for Big Apple when his contract expires. Wilson currently has one year left on his deal, but Seattle can place franchise tag on him for 2020 which would be around $30.34 million. Giants, on the other hand, might not be willing to spend the capital needed to bring him via trade.
