Former second overall pick in 2006 NFL draft, Reggie Bush, will retire from football if he doesn’t manage to find a team in NFL to play for this season. Talking with ESPN on Tuesday Bush expressed his desire to play football, but will retire if he doesn’t manage to do it in this year.

I still want to play, but if it doesn’t happen this year, then I’m going to retire,” – Bush told ESPN. “I’m not going to miss a whole year and then try to come back for another season at 33 years old, it doesn’t make sense.

During his career, Bush had two seasons where he rushed more than 1,000 yards. In 2011 season, he rushed 1,086 yards as a member of the Miami Dolphins, while in 2013 he managed to rush 1,006 with the Detroit Lions. Bush spent the 2016 NFL season with the Buffalo Bills, playing 13 games (12 as a starter) and had 7 catches for 90 yards, and 12 carries for –3 yards. He became the first player (excluding the QBs) in the league’s history that carried a ball 10 times or more and had negative yardage. Still, Bush feels that he can play on a high level.

I want to play this year. I still feel great.” – said Bush. “I still feel like I have enough left in the tank to play at a high level, but it’s also going to come down to if there’s a need for me on certain teams. And then also, if there is a need, it’s going to have to be a good fit as well.

While in college, Reggie Bush won the Heisman Trophy for his efforts with the USC Trojans. During his professional football career, he won the Super Bowl as the member of the New Orleans Saints and earned one All-Pro selection.
