Dallas Stars’ goal for this offseason was keeping together the team that reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019/20 and it’s safe to say that they are on track to accomplish it. After signing Anton Khudobin and Radek Faksa to new deals early in the free agency, Stars have now also managed to do the same with Finnish forward Roope Hintz.

The team announced earlier this week that Hintz inked a new contract that will keep him with the franchise through the 2022/23 NHL season. The 23-year-old player is set to earn $9.45 million over the course of his deal while receiving $3.15 million annually.

Roope Hintz enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Dallas last season, playing 60 games and contributing with career-high 33 points. He was second in goals among all Stars’ players with 19 while adding 14 assists as well.

During the playoffs, Hintz played in all of Stars’ 25 postseason games while scoring two goals and dishing 11 assists.

Re-signing Hintz will most likely be the last big offseason move for Dallas, considering their salary cap shortage.
