Multiple sources have reported that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad which travels to Thailand as part of their pre-season tour. This news comes after the star striker was granted temporary leave, citing “family issues”.

It was discovered that Ronaldo would not be on the team flight scheduled to leave Manchester for Bangkok at 4.30 p.m. U.K. time on Friday. This update follows a wave of media hype surrounding rumors of Ronaldo’s dissatisfaction with life at Old Trafford. It has been reported that the Portuguese forward is considering departing the club in search of Champions League football.

The club insists that Ronaldo will not be departing and will also not be put up for sale. The 37-year-old player still has a year left on his Manchester United contract.

Ronaldo was initially expected to return to training on Monday, however, he was given special permission by the club to take an extended period of leave.

Manchester United is due to face Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12, after which they will make their way to Australia to face Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Melbourne Victory. The team is due to return to Manchester on July 25.
