LA Galaxy might enter the 2020 MLS season with a completely revamped attack. After previously failing to agree on a new deal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Galaxy is now also saying goodbye to winger Romain Alessandrini.
Alessandrini’s contract with Galaxy expired after the end of the season, but there were indications that two sides might agree on an extension. That ended not being the case, as the 30-year-old Frenchman confirmed on social media on Monday that he will be leaving the club.
In an Instagram post, Alessandrini thanked the organization and the fans, saying he’s “grateful for all the memories.”
“My journey in LA is officially over,” Alessandrini wrote. “I gave you my heart during the past 3 years, a lot of ups and downs for sure but it has been the best 3 years of my life and I will keep in mind only the positive things I’ve learned and the beautiful moments.”
Romain Alessandrini joined LA Galaxy in 2017, signing a Designated Player contract. Alessandrini proved to be impactful in his first two seasons in MLS, scoring 24 goals and providing 21 assists in 56 appearances. In 2019, however, he was limited to only five games in 2019 due to injuries and he failed to score any goals.
