The Italian Serie A club Roma has another player in their sights, as they weren’t successful in their attempt to sign the Belgian Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham.

Italian news outlets are reporting that now the club is after Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren and that the Croatian can be signed for the price of $23 million. The last season was not so great for the Croatian as he found it difficult to perform under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp and he had a hard time keeping up with his teammates.

Reportedly, the Serie A club is expecting a significant lowering of the price because they have great relations with Liverpool which is apparently based on the personal closeness between the owners of the two great clubs.

The 30-year-old Lovren has one more year on his contract with Liverpool and the club is risking to let him go free of charge if they miss this transfer window. Also, the player had a few injuries which further complicates the situation. Despite all this, the club’s officials have previously stated that they didn’t intend to sell the player during this summer.

In the next few days, we will see Roma‘s negotiating capabilities.
