The Colorado Rockies’ outfielder Charlie Blackmon announced his retirement from professional baseball on Monday. Blackmon is walking away after playing 14 seasons in MLB, all of which he spent with the Rockies. Blackmon made the announcement via social media.

“I have been blessed to call the city of Denver and the Colorado Rockies my baseball home for the entirety of my career. I am grateful for the support of this organization, my teammates, and most of all Rockies fans. It is with a thankful heart and a career’s worth of memories that I choose a new path,” said Blackmon in a statement.

The Rockies later shared their intention to honor Blackmon in the final days of the 2024 MLB season. The team plans to have a fireworks show, T-shirt giveaway, and pre-game ceremony across the three games of the closing series against the LA Dodgers later this week.

Charlie Blackmon made his MLB debut with the Rockies in 2011. He went on to become a four-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and NL batting champion in 2017.

Blackmon retires with a .292 batting average, 226 home runs, 797 RBIs, and 148 RBIs. His 1,797 hits and 1,618 games played are second on the Rockies’ all-time list.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
