The Houston Rockets locked their promising duo Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green to rookie extensions on Monday. The Rockets inked Sengun to a new five-year, $185 million deal, while Green inked a three-year, $106 million extension.
Sengun reportedly received a player option, making him the first player since All-Star Luka Doncic and Trae Young to get one on a five-year rookie extension.
Green also has a player option on his deal. He will be the first player to get a player option on a three-year rookie extension worth nine figures.
Both Sengun and Green have been key contributors to the ascending Rockets team that finished 41-41 last season. While Houston failed to make the playoffs, they showed a lot of promise by embarking on an 11-game winning streak at one point and having their first non-losing season in four years.
Sengun, taken with the No. 16 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game last season. He flirted with an All-Star appearance and finished third in the NBA Most Improved Player voting.
Green, who was second overall selection in the same draft, averaged 19.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while playing all 82 games in 2023-24.
