The Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ricky Rubio is looking to return to the court after a year-long absence on Thursday night as his team faces off against the Portland Trail Blazers, sources reported on Wednesday. The 32-year-old is set to participate in team practice on Wednesday, and if all goes well, will feature in Thursday’s game.

Rubio has spent the past year rehabilitating from an ACL tear in his left knee. Having been traded to the Indiana Pacers at the trade deadline, Rubio returned to the Cavs during the summer as a free agent.

Known as an effective playmaker and one of the most popular team players in the league, Rubio’s return has been highly anticipated by his Cavs’ teammates.

Prior to his injury, Rubio helped the Cavs to get their campaign off to a good start last season, going 20-14. He has averaged 11.1 points and 7.6 assists in his career.

Currently, the Cavs find themselves fifth in the Eastern Conference rankings with 26-16 record. Cleveland will be hoping to heal the wounds from their close 114-116 loss to the Utah Jazz when they come up against the Trail Blazers on Thursday night.
